God Is Merciful and I Need His Mercy
Upon hearing the sermon this morning shared by Mike Wilkerson, my first thought was,
“This is not what I need to hear today. Couldn’t there have been a better sermon for today?”
As much as the teaching was not what I was hoping to hear, the scripture used was such a great reminder.
14Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. 15For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
Hebrews 4:14 – 16
The speaker shared about our need for Christ’s mercy in Our Suffering and in Our Sin. Christ empathizes with our pains, struggles, defeats and faults. Because of this, we can approach His throne boldly - not with pride – but with confidence knowing that He extends mercy toward us over and over again.
Christ is merciful and I am a sinner saved by His grace. Each and everyday I am in need of His mercy because I falter, stumble and fail so often. Praise God that His mercies are new every morning and that I have access to Him.
God is merciful and I need His mercy.
